  • Shannon Raines, CPFA, CRPS, has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. She’s committed to helping clients develop strategies that meet their retirement goals so they can enjoy their retirement, rather than worry about money.
  • Shannon holds a Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor (CPFA) designation, which means she’s demonstrated required knowledge and expertise in working with retirement plans.

Jenny Wathen

Jenny has over 25 years of experience in the financial industry. She joined Baird in 1998 and obtained her series 7 and 66 license. Jenny is our trouble-shooter to provide administrative support and ensure our smooth operation. Her role is supporting the team members by preparing, processing, and tracking all paperwork and service issues. During tax time, Jenny works closely with our client’s CPA, to ensure the tax information needed is correct and received in a timely manner. Jenny enjoys developing client relationships and prides herself on delivering superior client service, serving a vital role in the success of our group.

Jenny is an avid reader. In her spare time, she enjoys camping, traveling, and spending time with her two children, Shelby and Kasey.

Mitch Settle

Managing Director

Mitch Settle is a Managing Director at Baird. He began his career in 1986 working with his father, Roy Settle. Mitch holds the Chartered Wealth Advisor® (CWA®) designation, which is awarded only to Baird Financial Consultants who have completed an extensive program concerning the varied aspects of wealth management. The program includes classroom study, self-study, case studies, periodic testing and a comprehensive final exam over the course of six months. He was a member of the Hilliard Lyons CEO Council (which included the top 3% of Hilliard Lyons producers) every year since 1990 until the firms acquisition by Baird in 2019. Continuing the tradition of excellence, Mitch developed Settle Financial Advisors of Baird, a team of licensed and trained professionals to assist him in his mission of helping clients build and maintain wealth. With a combination of more than 65 years of investment experience, Mitch and his team focus on building strong, long-term relationships to carry over to future generations. The team's objective is to provide integrity, commitment and trust to every client experience. Mitch is passionate about his job. He wants to help his clients make educated investment decisions in all aspects of their lives.

Mitch has been listed as one of the “Top 1200 Financial Advisors” in Barron’s magazine for ten consecutive years, as well as one of the “Top 3 Financial Advisors in Kentucky.”  In addition, he has been ranked by the Financial Times as one of the "Top 400 Advisors" in America. In 2019, Mitch was named to the Forbes Best in State Wealth Advisors (number 4 in Kentucky). Mitch is a graduate of Kentucky Wesleyan College where he served as Chairman of the Board from 2009 – 2011. He was awarded the Outstanding Alumnus by the Kentucky Wesleyan Board of Trustees in 2007, and was inducted into the Kentucky Wesleyan College Hall of Fame in 2018. Mitch served on the board from 1986 – 2018. Mitch served on the Executive Board of First Security Bank from origination in 1997 until 2018. Mitch is now a member of the Advisory Board of German American Bank. He also serves as Chairman on the The George Greenwell Charitable Foundation, and is a member of the Owensboro Estate Planning Council.

In addition to a love and interest of helping clients pursue their financial goals, Mitch enjoys sports cars and running.  He has been an avid runner for 50 years. He participates in and sponsors races throughout the community. Mitch and his wife, Kim, have two daughters Sydney and Shelby. Sydney is a graduate of Western Kentucky University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in marketing and then went on to attain her MBA. Shelby graduated summa cum laude from Kentucky Wesleyan College in 2020 with a degree in business administration. 

Shannon Raines, CPFA, CRPS

With over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, Shannon helps clients build long-term plans based on individual customized financial goals.  She meets with clients to discuss their asset allocation, investment strategies, and to prioritize and monitor their future goals.  Shannon excels in helping clients develop strategies for meeting their retirement goals so they can spend their time in retirement doing what they want to do, rather than worrying about whether they will run out of money.

In addition to helping individual clients reach their financial goals, Shannon works with business owners to offer retirement benefits for their employees.  She holds several advanced designations including: Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor (CPFA) and Chartered Retirement Plan Specialist (CRPS).  These credentials validate her proficiency in this niche area.   

Shannon graduated summa cum laude with her undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky.  She also earned her Master of Business Administration from Murray State University. She is a 2019 graduate of Leadership Owensboro, and was selected in 2017 as a 40 Under 40 by the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce.  She has been involved in many community organizations including the Owensboro Estate Planning Council (past President), March of Dimes of Western Kentucky (past Board Member), Daviess County Rotary Club, Owensboro Metropolitan Planning Commission Board of Adjustment (past board member), University of Kentucky Alumni Association, and BridgePointe Church (Finance Committee).

Shannon and her husband, Andy, have three daughters: Mallory, Natalie, and Audrey. They enjoy being outside, hiking, biking, running, swimming, and spending time with friends and family.

Sydney Settle

Client Specialist

Sydney is a Client Specialist at Baird. She started her career at Baird in 2017 and has obtained her Series 7 and Series 66 licenses. Sydney is our Baird Online specialist and helps our team and clients better track their investments. She handles our contact management system and spends a large portion of her time ensuring client needs are met. She is also our team's marketing coordinator and handles all marketing and advertising initiatives. She is a 2015 graduate of Western Kentucky University, where she earned a degree in marketing, and then received her MBA from WKU in 2016.

 In her free time, Sydney enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and coaching the girls' cross country and track teams at Daviess County High School. In addition, Sydney is a board member at the Owensboro Help Office and on the mission committee at Settle Memorial United Methodist Church.

Tara Estes

Associate Financial Advisor

Tara has been in the financial industry for over 25 years. She holds her Series 6, 7, 63, 65, and insurance licenses. Tara joined The Settle Group in 2010, after spending 17 years at JP Morgan Chase. She specializes in annuities and Retirement Income Planning, which allows our income-oriented clients to find the right strategy to meet their needs. Tara performs portfolio reviews and collaborates with Mitch Settle in realizing your financial plan. Her vast experience in the financial industry has proven to be an invaluable asset to the quality of service we provide to our clients. Tara is involved in the community as a member of the Owensboro Estate Planning Council and Impact 100. Tara is a past board member of Girls Inc., where she served on the Executive Committee and held the office of Secretary. She is also a volunteer for the Owensboro Daviess County Veterans Association. Tara and her husband, Travis, reside in Owensboro with their three dogs. They enjoy traveling and the Performing Arts. In her spare time, she enjoys singing and acting in community theatre productions. 

Weston Jacob

Weston Jacob joined The Settle Group in January 2022. Weston was born and raised in Owensboro, and graduated from Owensboro Catholic High School in 2017. He then went on to complete his degree at Western Kentucky University where he majored in finance with a concentration in personal financial planning. Before joining The Settle Group, he interned with The Perry Richey Group in Bowling Green during the summer of 2021 and with the Owensboro office during the fall of 2021. During this time, Weston became well acquainted with Baird's values, technology, and operations. 

Weston is working as a client assistant for the team. He spends a large portion of his day communicating directly with clients in regard to account updates, money movement, and answering questions. He works closely with Mitch helping prepare for client meetings. Weston enjoys technology and trouble-shooting problems. His background and knowledge are valuable assets to our team and clients. Weston is currently working toward becoming licensed through obtaining his Series 7 and 66.
